2nd Testing Time in Mandell Theater
This week we were in the theater doing some more testing and filming. I was able to measure and determine what pipes I wanted my piece of cyc(s) to be for the city scene in the middle of the piece. I also tested different versions of my animation at the end of the piece to see what translated better on stage (16 MB). I decided that although the morphing animation translates better on a computer screen, the non-morphing animation translates a lot better on stage. The costume designer and I also looked at three different fabrics to see what the animation looked like projected onto them. We narrowed it down to two and will make a final decision once we see what the final lighting will be like.
Another task while I was in the theater was to film the “digital dancers” again. Because of the size constraints in the Green Screen Room, I wanted to film on Mandell Theater’s stage. I will be silhouetting the footage and bringing it into Flash next term. For pictures of the dancers check out my new flickr account.
The engineers also did some testing. They narrowed the four systems down to two, infrared LEDs and wireless sensors. They got the infrared LED system working and talking to Flash, but had some trouble with the wireless motes. We will be in the theater on Saturday, March 24 to do some lighting testing with the system.
